These exquisite wood chopsticks are meticulously hand-painted with Fuki Urushi in our Tokyo KULUR LAB.  Urushi painting is a natural lacquer technique that enhances the wood’s inherent beauty, deepening its original color to brighter hues while also enriching its unique grain patterns.  You can enjoy how they change with age over time.

We carefully select Maras wood for its distinct characteristics in color, hardness, weight, texture, and wood grain, ensuring a truly personal connection with your utensils.

The creation of these chopsticks is a testament to patience and precision, a process that spans over a month in our Kulur Lab in Tokyo. It begins in Kyoto, where artisans skillfully shape the wood into elegant square or octagonal forms. Each chopstick is then individually sanded to achieve a comfortable feel in your hand. The next crucial step involves applying two layers of Fuki Urushi by hand, with significant drying time between each coat to ensure the lacquer hardens properly to give exceptional waterproofing and durability. The final detail is hand-painted Kikusumi logo, a symbol of exceptional craftsmanship. This slow, meticulous journey culminates in a beautiful, long-lasting product that brings a spark of joy to your everyday life.

To preserve the longevity of your FURU Color Urushi Chopsticks, please observe the following care guidelines:

• Wash immediately after use and thoroughly wipe them dry. Store in a well-ventilated area.
• Do NOT use a dishwasher or dryer. High temperatures and pressure can cause irreversible warping and cracking.

Store away from direct UV light to help maintain their vibrant color. Please note that Urushi Color lacquer will naturally deepen and change in character over time allowing you to appreciate its evolving charm.
